The Solihull Symphony Orchestra is a welcoming and friendly group that enjoys taking on the challenge of a lively and varied repertoire. Our members span an age range from under 18 to over 80.

The orchestra began life as an evening class in Solihull, moving to its independent status in 1990 when Malcolm Peters was invited to become its conductor. Martin Leigh became the orchestra's first Music Director in 2001.

In January 2005, the orchestra changed its name from Knowle Sinfonia to the Solihull Symphony Orchestra. In September 2013, Jon Malaxetxebarria was appointed Music Director and Principal Conductor.

The orchestra is affiliated to the National Federation of Music Societies, and has received supported from the PRS Foundation for new music. Since 2014, the Mayor of Solihull has been Patron of the orchestra.
