Rising Stars

Since 2004, Solihull Symphony Orchestra has organised an annual Rising Stars programme each spring. The programme allows a small number of talented young local musicians the opportunity to perform a movement from a concerto, an aria, a song from a musical or something similar with a full orchestra - usually for the first time. The performance is an informal family affair and always attracts a large audience of family, friends and regular concert goers.

Recruitment for Rising Stars usually begins in the Autumn of each year, but if you're interested in the 2012 event, please enquire now. All dates are provisional at this stage.

Applicants are asked to provide a short biography (250 words) and a small selection of high quality digital photographs (at least 2 Mb file size), both with and without instrument, to be used in publicity materials. See examples from previous years for ideas - imaginative and unusual shots are welcome. Please try to ensure that photographs are taken with a good camera (not a mobile phone) in natural light against a plain background.

Businsess sponsorship of the orchestra would allow your organisation to be associated with this programme. The costs of the event (the hire of unusual pieces of music, and specialist supporting musicians) otherwise fall on the performers themselves. Please contact us for further details.
